Far-left political commentator and streamer Hasan Piker recently performed a satirical rendition of the song "We Are Charlie Kirk" at a live event for his "Fear& LIVE" tour, sparking widespread discussion and criticism online.
Piker, leading a vocal audience, sang lyrics such as "We are Charlie Kirk, we carry the flame. We'll fight for the Gospel, we'll honor his name." His co-hosts on stage were observed laughing during the performance. At one point, Piker was heard suggesting it was among the most surreal experiences of his life.
Beyond his Twitch streaming activities, Piker co-hosts the weekly comedy and pop culture podcast "Fear&" alongside three other individuals. The live iteration of their show is currently on a West Coast leg, which commenced in San Francisco on Friday. A photo shared by Piker featuring him and his co-hosts indicates this city was likely the location where the video was captured.
Origin of the "We Are Charlie Kirk" Song
The song itself, widely believed to be generated by artificial intelligence, was reportedly released on September 18, 2025, following Kirk's assassination in Utah. Crafted in the style of a Christian power ballad, its lyrics include lines like, "He spoke the truth when the cost was high / He lived for Jesus, unafraid to die." Online, the track is frequently employed in memes intended to ridicule Kirk and conservative ideologies.
Piker, known for his controversial rhetoric and staunch left-wing views, swiftly gained viral attention for his performance of the song, which appeared to deride Kirk. Kirk is a figure revered by many on the political right for founding Turning Point USA and his involvement in Republican politics.
"Hasan Piker is engaging in pure, unadulterated evil," Andrew Kolvet, a spokesperson for Turning Point, stated on X. "Whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished. Proverbs 17:5."
Chuck Ross, an investigative reporter for the Washington Free Beacon, commented, "He’s just a trash human being. Piker was supposed to debate Charlie Kirk a few days after he was assassinated. Piker actually talked about how much the shooting shook him. Now, he’s mocking it all for the pleasure of his loser fans."
Another social media account described the act as "[Hasan] Piker making fun of Charlie Kirk on stage… absolutely disgusting."
Piker's Response and Political Context
Following the show, Piker appeared to reference the song by posting a photo from the event with the caption, "carried the flame tn," a phrase that echoes a lyric from the song: "We carry the flame." He also reposted a message defending him against critics, which read, "The same conservatives crying over Hasan singing a meme song were openly celebrating the murder of American citizens. These people don’t care about anything."
Charlie Kirk established the conservative organization Turning Point USA during his teenage years and gained prominence through widely publicized debates on college campuses. He became a close associate of President Donald Trump and played a significant role in his 2024 re-election efforts. Kirk had previously engaged in a debate with Piker on the topic of socialism.
Piker's growing influence within the Democratic Party, particularly as democratic socialists gain momentum in the 2026 election cycle, has emerged as a notable media storyline. He has actively campaigned alongside several prominent political candidates, including Michigan Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed.
